Kulachi Hansraj got ISO 14001 - 1996 EMS (Environment Management System) in 2003. The whole school community took a pledge to work towards improving the existing Quality of the environment by preventing pollution and preserving and conserving water and other resources, reduce waste and commit to recovery and recycling as opposed to disposal wherever feasible. KHMS has Vasundhara Club, where all members are environmentally conscious and adopt enviro – friendly methods in their day to day life.
Students take out rallies against the use of crackers and polybags. Tree plantation day is celebrated with great zest and zeal. Hundreds of saplings are planted by the students. Paper recycling unit has been installed on which students work and make beautiful things out of waste paper. Water Treatment Plant has been installed for the purity of the available water for the students.
Fire safety gadgets are put on the various important prints. Children are trained in fire safety measures. Fire alarm system has been put up in the school campus. All the campuses are provided fire extinguishers.
A social network made for the environment club of the school has now become paperless, all the students data is on the network. The students are preparing e-files that have been uploaded on this network. Every member has a space in which he can add pictures, articles, comments, views, add music, podcasts etc. All this without using paper.
At Kulachi Hansraj Model School, we call our efforts in this field as green initiatives.

• Use of micro techniques in the Chemistry Labs to reduce Chemical Pollution.

• Solar lights too, help in electricity conservation.
• Like most big schools in Delhi, we too have an R.O. water purification plant. Waste water from this plant is used for watering the plants in the garden.
• Rain water harvesting unit with four recharge structures ensures that rain water is harvested and used to raise the levels of ground water-another Principle of sustainability.
• The vermicompost unit too, allows us to recycle the biodegradable waste from the canteen and home science labs.
• Saplings are given to guests instead of bouquets.
• A herb garden is maintained by the students of Eco Club and it has over 40 varieties of medicinal plants. Tree plantation activities are undertaken both in and around the school.
Our school has taken up 'Solar Energy' as the main aspect of environment. To save energy and to use renewable sources of energy – photo voltaic lights were installed in the school. Students were encouraged to make small models using photovoltaic cells and use them in their daily life style.
Students were taken on a jungle camp to Asola Bhati Wild Life Sanctuary and also to an Organic farm. Organic farming educated the children about the kind of pesticides and fertilizers used as an alternative to chemicals.

An 'Anti Cracker Campaign' was held for the class IX and X just before Diwali to bring awareness about child labour, cracker disaster and noise and air pollutions. It was an activity-filled special assembly with fake cracker sound and had a festive look with flowers and diyas.

A home away from home with loving care for the well being of students. Qualified doctors & Nurses to keep health charts and records with the added service and facility and treat any illness to keep the child healthy.
